Sky Italy journalist Gianluca Di Marzio claims Tottenham defender Djed Spence is to ignore Premier League interest and join French club Stade Rennais on loan – and link up with fellow on-loan Tottenham defender Joe Rodon.
Spence, 22, joined Tottenham in the summer from Middlesbrough after starring for Nottingham Forest on loan. The right-back, though, has struggled at Spurs. Antonio Conte has made it clear that he was a club signing, not one of his.
The England U21 tar has only managed six appearances for Spurs, with Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty ahead of him. 90Min recently claimed that West Ham were one of six clubs showing interest in Spence – as well as old side Boro.
But now, Di Marzio says that Spence is set to make a surprise move and leave England for the second half of the season. He is about to join French side Rennes. Wales international and Spurs ace Rodon is currently on loan at Rennes.

Di Marzio: Tottenham defender Spence to join French side Stade Rennais
Tottenham remain in talks to sign Pedro Porro with the defender keen to join Spurs. So, even if Spurs do not complete a deal for Porro, Spence will still be third choice. He really need to go loan, given his current lack of game time.
A move to Rennes is seemingly getting the best out of Rodon, who recently helped Rennes beat PSG. The Ligue 1 side are also in the Europa League, facing a tricky knockout clash against Shakhtar Donetsk. No Mykhaylo Mudryk, though.
So, Spence is set to move to France instead of going on loan to an English club and will play alongside Rodon. It is unclear if a permanent clause will be included but given he signed in the summer – it is unlikely Spurs will include one.
