Spanish outlet Deporte Valenciano claim Valencia want to re-sign Tottenham star Bryan Gil on an 18-month loan with a permanent option this month – after Gil starred for Valencia during the second half of last season for the La Liga outfit.

Gil, 21, started for Tottenham on Sunday – a woeful 2-0 home defeat to Aston Villa. A loss that has seen Spurs fans start to turn on Antonio Conte. Spurs have now slipped outside of the top four, but do remain above some of their rivals.

Indeed, Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United all sit behind Spurs in the Premier League table. Gil started what was only his second Premier League outing of the season, with Dejan Kulusevski missing. He is being linked with an exit.

Estadio Deportivo recently reported that five La Liga clubs want to sign Gil. Valencia, Sevilla, Cadiz, Mallorca and Real Sociedad. The latest report states that Valencia want Gil on an 18-month loan – until the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

The loan would also include a permanent option – which may be as much as £26.5million. The report states that Spurs want to sign a replacement in the final third before they let the Spaniard depart. Whether that happens, is unclear.

Gil really impressed at Valencia last season. While he did not score and only laid on one assist, he did play 17 times in the space of half a season. His work ethic, direct style and dribbling really impressed Valencia fans – and the board.

Indeed, it has left a lasting impression. Gil has deserved more game time at Spurs this season. Spurs have been woeful at times this season but still, Conte continues to use out-of-form Son Heung-min. Gil must be desperate to go on loan.
