Chelsea insiders reportedly view Victor Osimhen as a dream summer signing despite rumours that Tottenham are also interested in the Napoli striker.

According to journalist Simon Phillips, people within the Blues see the Nigerian international as the perfect fit to lead the line for Chelsea under Graham Potter, though transfer interest in Osimhen is expected to be sky-high based on how good the forward has been this season.

Signed for £42m, Osimhen has been one of the best goalscorers in Europe this campaign, with the striker bagging 21 goals in all competitions as Napoli lead Serie A by some distance, with many pundits also tipping the Italian giants with an outside chance of winning the UEFA Champions League.

And as a result, Tottenham are interested in signing Osimhen, with Rudy Galetti reporting that the 24-year-old is viewed by the north London club as the perfect replacement for Harry Kane, though with Chelsea now in the mix, the race for the striker could be over before it’s even begun.

Indeed, Chelsea’s approach to the transfer market under American owner Todd Boehly has so far been more erratic than what we saw over Roman Abramovich’s tenure at the club, and as a result, Tottenham could face being blown out of the water in their attempt to sign Osimhen.

Phillips said about the Blues’ interest in the Nigerian international: “Osimhen is liked by Chelsea and many at the club would see him as the dream striker signing. But, he would not be cheap and Chelsea are weighing up other options as well. Osimhen will have a lot of interest coming in for him.”

With Kane expected to finally leave Tottenham this summer, Spurs will be in the money to sign essentially anyone they want to replace the England international, with Osimhen the outstanding candidate to fill this role, which is why this interest from Chelsea is such a major blow.

The Blues have shown they have the money to sign any target on their transfer list regardless of cost, and with Chelsea insiders viewing Osimhen as a dream summer signing, Tottenham could now easily lose the battle to bring in the Napoli star in the transfer window.
