TalkSPORT reporter Alex Crook has told Give Me Sport that Brentford and Spain goalkeeper David Raya would jump at the chance to join Tottenham in the coming months – after Hugo Lloris made a catastrophic error in Sunday’s derby.

Indeed, Lloris fumbled an effort from Arsenal star Bukayo Saka into the back of his own net. A woeful error, that saw Arsenal take the lead at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Martin Odegaard made it 2-0. Lloris has been poor this term.

In 18 Premier League games, the Frenchman has conceded 25 goals and kept just five clean sheets this season. It is widely expected that Spurs will replace him in the summer. But surely, after Sunday, Spurs need to replace him sooner.

The Telegraph claims Spurs want to sign Raya. A player that Jurgen Klopp branded “incredible” and is so good with his feet he could play as a no.10. Crook says that if Spurs do move for the Brentford ace, Raya would jump at the chance.

“With the greatest respect in the world to Brentford, I’m sure if he could make the step up to Spurs he’d grab it with both gloves. Again, I think probably one to keep an eye on in the summer, as opposed to now,” Crook said on Raya.

Crook: Brentford goalkeeper Raya would jump at Tottenham chance

Raya would be a huge signing for Spurs. One of the most in-form goalkeepers at Spurs. But what is crucial, is that Raya is excellent with the ball at his feet. One of Lloris’ most-glaring weaknesses, is he is unable to play out from the back.

The two-time Spain star has a contract until the end of the 23-24 season. His future is in doubt at Brentford. As his deal continues to wind down, you would expect he may leave in the summer window. But Brentford may qualify for Europe.
