AC Milan director Paolo Maldini is now weighing up a move to sign Tottenham Hotspur ace Lucas Moura in a Bosman transfer. The winger is out of contract in north London this June.

That is according to CalcioMercatoWeb, which reports the Rossoneri have already set their eye on the summer market. San Siro chiefs are determined to strengthen their team in the next window to reinforce Stefano Pioli’s side after their disappointing Serie A title defence.

AC Milan won their first Scudetto in 11 years last season but only sit in sixth place through 21 matches this term. The Italian giants are also 18 points behind runaway leaders Napoli. So, technical director Maldini is searching the market and feels Moura could be an answer.

Maldini feels Moura could have something to offer AC Milan as he will leave Tottenham in a free transfer. The Brazilian no longer has youth on his side but his profile and price would benefit the Rossoneri. He can also be a very handy arrival with Champions League football.

But the £90k-a-week salary the winger receives at Spurs would be an issue for the San Siro side. AC Milan would need Moura to reconsider his wage for any transfer at the end of his contract at Tottenham. Maldini will hope that the forward is willing to meet in the middle.

Moura can seal a transfer to AC Milan after an injury-hit last year at Tottenham

AC Milan do not, currently, have any plans in place to discuss any transfer from Tottenham with Moura. But the 30-year-old is free to negotiate with foreign teams having entered the last six months of his contract. There is no expectation he will agree to new terms at Spurs.

Tottenham are ready to let the 35-cap Brazil international leave north London. He has only played 12 matches so far this season across all competitions after suffering from a tendon injury. The forward has also only scored one goal and has not laid on a single assist to date.

Moura has scored 38 goals and laid on a further 27 assists through his 213 appearances for Tottenham. The Sao Paulo native has been in north London since January 2018 following a £23m move from Paris Saint-Germain. He relocated to England under Mauricio Pochettino.
