Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy knows Tottenham Hotspur may explore his transfer at the end of the season. Spurs are likely to target a replacement for Hugo Lloris this summer.

That is according to the Evening Standard, which reports Chelsea are likely to sell Mendy in the off-season. The Senegal star struggled to remain in favour at Stamford Bridge ahead of Kepa Arrizabalaga. He is also yet to return from surgery in January after fracturing a finger.

Stamford Bridge chiefs now see Mendy as a sellable asset after he rejected a new contract last summer. His current deal is set to expire in June 2025 but the west London side looked to extend his terms. Yet his decision could now see the Blues try to move him on this year.

Chelsea have compiled a long list of players they will look to sell over the summer transfer window. Owner Todd Boehly and the Stamford Bridge hierarchy are eager to raise funds to overcome possibly failing to qualify for the Champions League and the TV money it brings.

Boehly plans yet another lavish spending spree in the off-season but must also sell some of Chelsea’s fringe players. Mendy is among the stars on the club’s chopping block. The Blues see signing a new goalkeeper as a summer priority with Brentford star David Raya a target.

Mendy is aware that Tottenham will likely be in the market for a new goalkeeper, so might target his transfer from Chelsea. Atletico Madrid and Manchester United may also eye new shot-stoppers, though. So, they may also offer the 30-year-old a route away from Chelsea.

The Senegal star has already emerged on Spurs’ radar as a possible successor for Lloris, as well. 90min reported in November that an unnamed party had offered Chelsea star Mendy to Tottenham for a transfer. It also added that Mendy no longer expected a new contract.

Yet Chelsea offered Mendy a six-year contract to stay at Stamford Bridge in December, per The Sun. But the 29-cap star, who Frank Lampard paid Stade Rennais £22m to sign in 2020 and called ‘very complete’, rejected the offer. He felt the salary on offer was disrespectful.
