A select round-up of the latest news relating to Tottenham Hotspur…

According to a report from the London Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Everton midfielder Ross Barkley.

The rumour is somewhat surprising but if Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino can get the best out of the England international he could form a highly effective partnership with striker Harry Kane.

The report claims it will take a bid in the region of £35million to convince Everton to part company with the player.

Everton's Ross Barkley in action

Fresh off the back of that news, the Sun claims Everton boss Ronald Koeman has grown tired of Barkley’s inconsistency and is prepared to listen to offers as soon as January.

That could play into Tottenham’s hands…assuming both reports are true and one has not simply bred the other.

A move for Barkley would not exactly set the pulses racing at White Hart Lane, especially when fans would much rather see a player of Isco’s quality arrive in North London.

England's Eric Dier and Dele Alli during training

And finally, Pochettino has been speaking to the Standard about the rumours linking Eric Dier with a move away from Spurs.

The 22-year-old was said to be on the radar of both Chelsea and Bayern Munich, but the Tottenham boss has no intention of selling a player with a contract until the summer of 2021.

“I know there are a lot of rumours but he is 100 per cent our player,” Pochettino said. “He is very important for us.

“There is no doubt his future is at White Hart Lane.”
