Norwich City star Max Aarons rejected two potential transfers to Premier League teams in January. The right-back had attracted interest from Tottenham Hotspur ahead of the sales.

That is according to TEAMtalk, which reports Borussia Monchengladbach also approached Aarons over a switch to the Bundesliga. But the 23-year-old refused to leave Carrow Road during the mid-season market as he wants to help the Canaries secure another promotion.

Aarons has already won two Championship titles with his boyhood team in 2018/19 and in 2020/21. But after each promotion, he could not help the Norfolk club avoid an immediate relegation. Now, the London-born dynamo is eager to add a third promotion to his record.

Helping Norwich to secure a Premier League berth once again is the only target on Aarons’ mind. The Canaries sit seventh in the second-tier standings after 28 fixtures with a massive 20-point deficit to leaders Burnley. But they are only a point outside of the play-off places.

So, Aarons rejected offers from two Premier League clubs and Borussia Monchengladbach to leave Norwich in a January transfer. Instead, he will give his all to the Canaries this term and assess his future in the summer. The defender will have just a year left on his contract.

Tottenham scouted Aarons in view of a transfer from Norwich this season

Aarons plans to decide his long-term future in the off-season after seven years at Norwich. He moved to Carrow Road in his youth from Luton Town’s academy in 2016 before making his first-team debut in 2018. Now, he boasts 195 first-team appearances with the Canaries.

The former England U21 defender’s efforts, including a goal and two assists over 30 games this season, regularly attract interest. The Sun reported this January that Fulham scouted Aarons. But they faced competition from Sporting Lisbon and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Stade Rennais were also monitoring Aarons before eventually securing a deadline day deal to loan Djed Spence from Spurs. While 90min reported in November that Tottenham were tracking Aarons for a transfer from Norwich. Yet they signed Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Porro.

Manchester United, too, admire Aarons. The Sun noted back in October that Erik ten Hag was weighing up a move to add competition for Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Diogo Dalot. The Canaries would have sold Aarons – who Daniel Farke called ‘outstanding’ – for only £10m.
