Steve Nicol has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur need to replace goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, as he told ESPN.

The Anfield legend added that Lloris makes ‘too many basic errors’ for Spurs and, as a result, they need a new face in between their sticks.

Lloris is Tottenham’s longest-serving player and he has been at the club since Andre Villas-Boas signed him up back in 2012.

Added with the shot-stopper being the longest-serving player, he has also been a regular since then and he is the club captain.

But Nicol thinks the 35-year-old’s time in north London is up and he needs replacing this summer.

“I think they need a new goalkeeper,” said Lloris. “Lloris, as good as he has been, has been making too many basic errors over the last 18 months.”

FRASER FORSTER TO PROVIDE COVER FOR LLORIS

If Tottenham felt the need to replace Lloris, then they would have splashed the cash on a new keeper, instead, they have resulted in a free signing.

Last summer, they had Pierluigi Gollini on loan from Atalanta, but he has since returned back to his parent club and has since joined Fiorentina.

After also having Joe Hart on their books prior to his move to Celtic last summer, the club have since turned to another Englishman in Fraser Forster.

The 34-year-old’s contract at Southampton expired and Spurs added him to their books ahead of the 2022/23 Premier League season, which includes a return to the Champions League.

If Tottenham were worried about their goalkeeping situation, then like Conte has been backed all summer, a fair few quid would have gone into a new keeper arriving, instead, the free transfer proves that they are happy with what they have.
