Darren Bent says there is ‘no way’ Daniel Levy sells Harry Kane to Chelsea and he thinks Manchester United would be the best fit for the Tottenham Hotspur striker.

The radio pundit added that there is ‘hatred’ between Tottenham and Chelsea, so he can’t see a deal happening and he would be ‘stunned’ if the £200k-a-week star (Spotrac) does actually leave.

Kane has less than 18 months left on his current deal, and after becoming Tottenham’s all-time leading goalscorer on Sunday, talk of his future was ignited again.

For some, he needs to leave ASAP if he wants to win trophies, whilst others think he should now break Alan Shearer’s 260 record in the colours of Tottenham.

If truth be told, if Kane does sign a new deal, then that’s him staying in north London for the rest of his career.

And whilst some of the trophy-winning teams of the near past might come knocking in the summer, Bent thinks he is staying on board, as he told talkSPORT (07/02/23 at 5:40 pm).

“I would be stunned if he leaves Spurs,” said Bent. “The ideal spot for him is, of course, Manchester United or Chelsea.

“There is no way on the planet that Daniel Levy is selling him to Chelsea. That’s not going to happen, just because of the hatred of the two clubs. Manchester United is the one that makes sense.

“But I have just got this feeling, he just broke Jimmy Greaves’ record, and he is going to score on and score many more goals. He has it all good at Spurs.

“I am looking at it and how much he loves playing for that football club, it will probably mean more to him to win any type of trophy at Spurs than maybe go to Manchester United and win a fair few. It looks like to me, his likely destination is to be exactly where he is at.”

THOSE PAST MAN CITY LINKS…

It was well-documented that prior to Erling Haaland joining Manchester City that Kane wanted to secure a transfer to Pep Guardiola’s side.

In the end, Levy held firm and he stayed put, so from that perspective, he has proven that he is willing to head for the exit door.

What has changed from that point to now? Well, he has that all-time Tottenham record and the England one is around the corner.

Would he leave England altogether? Probably not, especially given the record that is at stake. But that doesn’t mean, with his contract yet to be signed, that he won’t accept advances from other Premier League teams.
