Kevin Hatchard has backed Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur to sign Bayer Leverkusen star Edmond Tapsoba who is ‘more established’ than Micky van de Ven.
After adding James Maddison to their ranks this summer, Tottenham are looking to bolster their backline, an area of the pitch that was their biggest problem last season.
Wolfsburg centre-back Micky van de Ven has been tipped to sign, with Fabrizio Romano claiming that Spurs are closing in on a deal for the player.
But for Hatchard, the European football expert and Bundesliga commentator added on Twitter that Edmond Tapsoba is the better player and more ‘composed’ on the ball.
The Burkina Faso star has also been tipped to sign for Spurs, with recent claims that the London club are chasing to sign the 24-year-old.
If it came to picking one of the two, Hatchard put forward Tapsoba’s name as the better option.
“Tapsoba the more established option,” said Hatchard. “Good on the ball, composed defensively, has played plenty of European football.
“Van de Ven has had a strong season for Wolfsburg (played almost every minute), but not as far along the track.”

A new number one goalkeeper is through the door, a creative midfielder and now it seems as though some centre-backs are arriving.
For once, Daniel Levy is doing things in an efficient manner in the transfer market, as it also needs to be added that Dejan Kulusevski has also been signed for the long-term.
Whilst someone like Maddison has perhaps been the pick of the transfers, the best deal Levy can do is keep Harry Kane and get him to sign a new contract.
