Tottenham’s Cameron Carter-Vickers has been nominated for the Young Male Player of the Year award by U.S. Soccer.
U.S. Soccer confirmed on their official website on Monday night that Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers has been nominated for the Young Male Player of the Year award.
After a disappointing run of results for the senior side, manager Jurgen Klinsmann was sacked last month, and U.S. Soccer decided to turn clock back by appointing Bruce Arena as their new boss.

Arena managed the United States between 1998 and 2006, and has left his role with Los Angeles Galaxy to return in Klinsmann’s place, with fans wanting him to harness an emerging crop of youngsters.
Players like Matt Miazga, Julian Green and Emerson Hyndman have all been tipped for bright futures, and their omission from the Young Male Player of the Year award nominations just goes to show how many talented young American players there are right now.

U.S. Soccer released a five-man shortlist of candidates to win the award on their official website on Monday night, with Tottenham Hotspur starlet Cameron Carter-Vickers one of the notable names on the list.
Carter-Vickers, 18, has emerged as one of Tottenham’s top talents from their impressive academy, and he’s played in two EFL Cup games this season as well as being on the bench for a number of Premier League games too.
The Southend-born centre back has been hailed by manager Mauricio Pochettino on a number of occasions and looks destined for a huge future, whilst having already been called up to the United States senior side, it’s now surprise to see the teenager make the list for U.S. Soccer’s Young Male Player of the Year award.

Other names on the list are Borussia Dortmund sensation Christian Pulisic, who will be the favourite to win the award, Seattle Sounders attacker Jordan Morris, 16-year-old winger Jordan Carleton of Charleston Battery on loan from Atlanta United and United States Under-17 captain Josh Sargent.
Carter-Vickers will push Pulisic and Morris for the award, and this nomination is another sign that Tottenham have a real star on their hands, and with manager Pochettino not afraid to blood youngsters in first-team games, it may not be too long before we see the centre back nominated for awards domestically as well as on the international stage.
