Tottenham Hotspur target David Raya is now prepared to run down his Brentford contract unless his asking price is reduced.
Brentford goalkeeper David Raya is threatening to leave for nothing if he isn’t allowed to leave this summer.
Fabrizio Romano has now spoken to Raya’s agent Jaume Munell about the goalkeeper’s future.
Munell is quoted as saying that Raya is now willing to run down his contract and leave for absolutely nothing in 2024.
Raya is into the final year of his contract and seemingly feels that Brentford are trying to price him out of an exit.
“If Brentford does not lower the price tag for David Raya this summer, we’ll be ready to leave as free agent in one year,” said Munell.
Brentford are seemingly preparing for Raya’s departure having agreed to sign Freiburg goalkeeper Mark Flekken.
The Dutch international surely won’t be prepared to sit on the bench and appears to be arriving as Raya’s replacement.
Yet with Brentford demanding £40million for Raya – even with just a year left on his contract – the Spaniard could be stuck in West London.
Bees boss Thomas Frank has admitted that ‘crazy high’ fees are needed to get players out of Brentford and Raya is seemingly no exception.

Tottenham Hotspur want half-price David Raya deal
One of the main suitors for Raya are Brentford’s London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Long-serving goalkeeper Hugo Lloris looks set to leave Spurs this summer amid interest from Saudi Arabia.
Raya has been picked out as a prime replacement thank to his ability to play out from the back at a much higher level than Lloris.
However, Tottenham don’t value Raya anywhere close to Brentford’s £40million asking price.
The Daily Mail claimed earlier in May that Tottenham value Raya at around £20million – half of Brentford’s demands.
The Bees don’t seem willing to cut a half-price deal right now, even if Raya is now threatening to leave for absolutely nothing.
Spurs will hope that Raya’s agent can now push for a move to happen at a more reasonable price, and Flekken’s move may just help their cause too.
