Tottenham Hotspur manager target Vincent Kompany has now been named the EFL Manager of the Season after excelling with Burnley.

The EFL held their awards night on Sunday and Kompany unsurprisingly claimed the big accolade.

Kompany was named as Manager of the Season for the Championship after guiding Burnley to top spot.

The Clarets aren’t yet champions but could secure top spot away at bitter rivals Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night.

Burnley are already promoted and looking forward to an immediate return to the Premier League.

The hope is that Kompany will still be Burnley boss for next season and beyond, but interest from Tottenham leaves that situation somewhat up in the air.

Tottenham Hotspur want Vincent Kompany

Tottenham have been linked with a number of managers in recent weeks.

Kompany is a prime candidate for Spurs according to recent reports.

The Sun reported earlier this month that Kompany has become Daniel Levy’s number one target for the Tottenham job.

The Daily Mail claim that some within Tottenham are worried about his lack of managerial experience, but the belief is that Kompany could make an impact similar to Mikel Arteta at Arsenal.

Kompany’s former Anderlecht colleague Simon Davies is currently serving as Tottenham’s head of coaching methodology.

That gives Kompany a real supporter within Tottenham and it sounds like Levy is very keen on the Belgian.

The 37-year-old won’t just leave Burnley at the drop of a hat and he may well want to be on the touchline for Burnley’s Premier League return.

Spurs are hardly the most stable club right now either and tempting highly-regarded coaches like Kompany won’t be easy.

Tottenham will hope to convince him to trade East Lancashire for North London and Sunday’s award just goes to show the managerial quality Kompany has demonstrated this season.
