Napoli legend Careca has made the astonishing comparison between Victor Osimhen and the late Pele, with the rumoured Tottenham target currently in the form of his life.
Speaking to CalcioMercato, the pundit, who played for Brazil for over a decade and won the Serie A title with Napoli in 1990 alongside Diego Maradona, was full of praise for the Nigerian international after Osimhen’s recent display for the Italian giants against Jose Mourinho’s AS Roma.
Osimhen has been one of the best attackers in Europe this season and currently leads the Serie A scoring charts with 16 goals in 17 matches, at the time of writing. And as a result, interest has sky-rocketed in the 24-year-old, with Rudy Galetti reporting that Tottenham are eyeing the forward as a potential replacement for Harry Kane.
Indeed, Osimhen’s record has been one of the best in Europe, and for Careca, the player’s recent goal against Roma reminded the Napoli legend of Pele, a comparison that is both incredible to comprehend yet also a statement to just how good the striker has been in recent weeks.

Careca said when asked about how good Osimhen has been this season for Napoli: “He is very strong and he will become even stronger because he wants to improve and still has a little something to work on. But he is unstoppable and he has an impressive physical superpower.
The Napoli legend later added about the Serie A superstar: “In the goal scored against Roma, I saw something similar to Pele. He dominated the ball, dominated the defender and smashed the goal. In that goal, there is everything, technique, malice and power.”
Pele comparisons to Osimhen are crazy despite feats this season

Few players can match the output Osimhen has managed this season for Napoli, with the striker one of the best in the world and currently on course to lead the Neopolitans to Serie A success for the first time this century, yet comparisons to Pele are crazy, to say the least.
Whilst the £88m-rated forward has put up numbers this season that would make the sporting legend happy, comparison Osimhen, or any player of this current generation, to the great man himself is a disservice to what Pele achieved in the game, with comparisons reserved for only the special few.
