Tottenham Hotspur target Slobodan Rubezic is coming in for strong criticism after a challenge on Celtic striker Kyogo Furuhashi.
Pundits in Scotland have been outraged after seeing Tottenham Hotspur target Slobodan Rubezic clash with Celtic star Kyogo Furuhashi.
Celtic were in red-hot form on Sunday, smashing Aberdeen 6-0 at Parkhead.
Brendan Rodgers saw Yang Hyun-jun, Kyogo and Luis Palma all get on the scoresheet to make it 3-0.
Celtic went wild in injury time, scoring three times thanks to a David Turnbull goal and two from Oh Hyeon-gyu.
Sadly, Celtic’s win has been somewhat overshadowed by a nasty head injury suffered by striker Kyogo…
Slobodan Rubezic slammed after Kyogo clash
With 48 minutes on the clock, the ball came towards Kyogo with Aberdeen defender Slobodan Rubezic steaming in.
The Montenegro international clattered into Kyogo whilst heading the ball away, leaving Kyogo with an apparent concussion.
Rubezic was booked but many believe the giant defender should have been given his marching orders for dangerous play.
Pundits were stunned with former Aberdeen captain Willie Miller telling BBC Sport that the incident was ‘dangerous and out of control’, calling on somebody to tell Rubezic to calm down because this is now a ‘common occurrence’.
“Somebody needs to tell Slobodan Rubezic to calm down. It’s dangerous and out of control. It’s a common occurrence with him. He was never going to get the ball,” said Miller.
Michael Stewart added on Sportscene that Rubezic is ‘clumsy’ and doesn’t have great peripheral vision, questioning his awareness of his surroundings more than his intent to injure.
“The one thing I would say about Slobodan Rubezic is that from what we’ve seen so far this season I think he’s clumsy, he’s rash and I don’t think he’s got particularly great vision in terms of peripheral vision. He’s got his eyes on the ball but I’m not sure or convinced he’s got a great deal of awareness of what he’s about to do by going and attacking the ball in terms of clattering into Kyogo,” said Stewart, as quoted by Glasgow World.

Tottenham Hotspur watching Rubezic
Ange Postecoglou may have been watching this game and not only to keep tabs on his former club Celtic.
Tottenham are interested in signing Rubezic according to The Sun, with the Aberdeen defender popping up on the radar after a scouting trip to Scotland.
Spurs may well believe that Rubezic’s perceived clumsiness is made up for in other areas of his game, but Postecoglou will not have liked this incident.
Postecoglou was so close to Kyogo at Celtic, bringing him in from Japan and making him a Parkhead hero.
The Spurs boss will have been very concerned about Kyogo’s well-being after that challenge, and Tottenham may just be left to wonder if Rubezic has what it takes to adjust his game to the Premier League.
