One particular concern for Tottenham fans will be how their side cope should Harry Kane be absent from action for a sustained period of time.
The addition of an able deputy to the England international will be of pivotal importance in the summer, with Fernando Llorente struggling to live up to expectations in north London.
In January, French media outlet Foot Mercato reported that Spurs made an enquiry to Porto regarding the potential availability of Moussa Marega, and were quoted a price of €40 million (£35 million) for the striker.
And Pochettino might just be wishing that he had signed the Mali international now.
Marega has been on fire for Porto, scoring 20 goals in 23 Primeira Liga outings so far this season, firing his side to the top of the table in the process.
The pacey forward would be a useful addition to the Spurs squad, and would undoubtedly offer stiffer competition for Kane than Llorente is providing right now.
For the reported fee of £35 million, in today’s ludicrously inflated transfer market, Tottenham have the potential to secure themselves a relative bargain, and should not hesitate to bring the Mali ace to north London in the summer.
