Tottenham were reportedly planning to move for Justin Kluivert this summer, but he is said to be nearing a move to Roma.

Roma have reached an agreement in principle with Dutch starlet Justin Kluivert, although Ajax are still said to be negotiating the asking price for the 19-year-old, according to reports from Gazzetta dello Sport.

The winger had been linked with a potential move to Tottenham this summer (Evening Standard), but it now appears Roma will his land his signature in the coming days if terms can be agreed between the clubs.

Yesterday, Roma’s sporting director Monchi flew to Monte Carlo to meet notorious agent Maino Riola, who currently represents Kluivert, and the basis of a personal agreement was found for the son of Barcelona legend, Patrick Kluivert, to move to Italy this summer.

The Dutch giants aren’t keen on the idea of Kluivert leaving just yet and are demanding £35 million to part ways with their prized asset, but so far Roma are said to value the move at around £17 million.

Further talks have been scheduled between Raiola and the club though, and a move is likely to materialise if a reasonable compromise can be reached.

Mauricio Pochettino has identified the left-wing as an area in need of serious improvement this summer, and he’ll be becoming increasingly frustrated as moves for both Manchester United’s Anthony Martial (Metro) and now Justin Kluivert look to have failed before gathering traction.
