Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in the French midfielder.
It looks like reported Tottenham Hotspur target Geoffrey Kondogbia has no plans on leaving Valencia.
The 25-year-old is on loan with the Spanish club from Inter Milan, but Sky Sports reported in January that Tottenham wanted the France midfielder in North London this summer.
The report added that Spurs view Kondogbia as a long-term replacement for Mousa Dembele, who turns 31 in June.
But if his latest comments to Calciomercato are anything to go by, the former Monaco stalwart isn’t going anywhere.
The Primera Division side will have to pay around £22 million in order to make the move permanent in the summer, and Kondogbia, who has started 20 of Los Che’s 24 Liga games this season, says that he’d pay the clause himself just to secure his long-term future at the Mestalla.
“I am happy here and I’ll play the clause from my own pocket,” the Frenchman told Calciomercato.
“The real problem [at Inter] was the lack of balance, it was all a mess. I saw four to five coaches in two years, there was little stability.”
It’s not huge a loss for Spurs if they don’t sign him. After all, the man he’d be replacing – Dembele – has been nothing short of outstanding in recent weeks, following barnstorming showings against Arsenal and Juventus.
Contrary to what some Tottenham fans said earlier in the season, the Belgian’s legs haven’t gone and Mauricio Pochettino will be planning to include him next season.
