Tottenham Hotspur are yet to replace Kyle Walker, after the English international departed the club for champions Manchester City last summer. Kieran Trippier has performed capably in his absence, but Mauricio Pochettino is still looking to strengthen the position, according to the Sun.

And Spurs appear to have taken a further hit in that department, as alleged target Djibril Sidibe (le10sport) has reportedly agreed to join Europa League champions Atletico Madrid this summer, according to L’equipe.

The versatile and robust full-back made a name for himself in last season’s Ligue 1 triumph and impressive Champions League campaign, and garnered attention from the likes of Manchester United (the Express) and Spurs.

But a year on from their successes, it seems Diego Simeone is closing on the French international’s signature.

Tottenham were also said to be interested in bringing Southampton defender Cedric Soares to north London next term, suggesting the Argentine is not confident Trippier can fulfil the role of first-team right-back for the foreseeable future.
