Tottenham Hotspur transfer target Dani Ceballos has a clear idea in mind of what he wants to achieve next season.

Where he does it, he is undecided.

Real Madrid midfielder Ceballos told Marca that he categorically wants to play 40 games next season as a minimum.

Ceballos was only a bit part player at Real last season and despite playing a starring role for Spain at the under-21 championships, he is unconvinced it will have made a difference.

AS have linked Ceballos with a move to Spurs, with the player valued at £45 million. Cadena COPE suggest a loan move is more likely.

Ceballos told Marca: “Yes, the most important thing in life is to be happy and that can only happen by playing 40 games a year.

“My personal goal for next season is to play 40 games and to be comfortable at all times. Wherever it is doesn’t matter, but it has to be a place where I can feel valued.

“I the moment I have no preferred choice. What I know is that I want to enjoy next year and that I’m open to new challenges. I’d like to try new things.”

Midfield is an area Tottenham need to strengthen, and with Champions League football, two domestic cups and a 38 game Premier League season, Ceballos could easily surpass 40 appearances.

It’s up to Tottenham to convince him he can play a big role as well as agreeing a fee with Real.

If Real only sanction a loan, Tottenham may be less inclined to make promises to Ceballos over his involvement.
