Arsenal should challenge Tottenham Hotspur for the Manchester United ace.
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Tottenham have scheduled talks with Manchester United for next week over the possibility of signing Anthony Martial, but Arsenal should join their north London rivals in the race for the Frenchman’s signature.
Martial joined United from Monaco in the summer of 2015, for a fee that could eventually eclipse the £60 million mark, according to the Telegraph, and he has gone on to chalk up 36 goals and 26 assists in 136 appearances in all competitions for the Red Devils.
The Frenchman would be ideally suited to the way in which the Gunners play, and if Unai Emery does in fact manage to bring him to the Emirates this summer, Arsenal could have one of the most frightening attacks in Europe.
With the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette and Henrikh Mkhitaryan already at the Emirates, the arrival of Martial would take them to even higher levels.
The 22-year-old is one of the fastest players in the game, and him lined up alongside Aubameyang really would be a frightening prospect for the rest of the Premier League.
Martial has received criticism for his lackadaisical approach to the game during his time at Old Trafford, but a move away from the club might just be what he needs to breath fire back into his career.
The former Monaco man could operate down the left hand flank for the Gunners, and he would surely strike up a deadly partnership with Auba, Lacazette and Mkhitaryan.
The Daily Mail claim that United will expect around £58 million for Martial’s services, and whilst that seems like a lot of money, he could turn out to be a signing of real significance for Arsenal.
It might be difficult for the Gunners to tempt Martial in joining them over Spurs, but the fact that they are under new leadership and are on the horizon of an exciting new project might just be enough to tip the scales in their favour.
