Tanguy Ndombele scored for Napoli on Wednesday night as the Tottenham Hotspur misfit took his chance with both hands.
Ndombele was supposed to be Tottenham’s heir to Mousa Dembele after his move from Lyon in the summer of 2019.
The Frenchman has all the natural ability you could dream of; his ability to dribble past players through the middle of the pitch is truly outstanding.
Yet without the right effort and application, all that natural ability can go to waste and that has been the case with Ndombele.
A string of Tottenham managers have given up on Ndombele and he now finds himself out on loan again, joining Napoli for the season.

Tanguy Ndombele scored for Napoli
The hope for Tottenham is that Ndombele can impress in Italy enough to eventually earn a permanent move away from North London.
There have already been ups and downs; Ndombele was substituted at half time in Napoli’s 1-0 win over Spezia last weekend.
That meant Ndombele was only on the bench as Napoli headed off to take on Rangers in the Champions League.
Ndombele came on in the second half at 1-0 to Napoli and made a big impact.
Giacomo Raspadori’s goal was in-part set up by Ndombele, who played a line-breaking pass into Raspadori before he exchanged passes with Mathias Olivera to score.
Ndombele then sealed the win himself, firing home number three to secure a 3-0 victory at Ibrox.
Ndombele only came on with seven minutes to play but clearly made a huge impact as Napoli racked up another strong Champions League win.
Tuttomercatoweb gave Ndombele a 7/10 rating for his cameo performance in Glasgow, stating that he simply couldn’t have done any better with the limited minutes available.
Tottenham will want this kind of form to continue for Ndombele, but we have seen many false dawns from him in the past.
