Tottenham talisman Kane now outperforming under fire Manchester United star Wayne Rooney

Harry Kane has now overtaken Wayne Rooney in the goalscoring charts.

Harry Kane’s weekend hat-trick for Tottenham has got his season back on track, and changed the perspective of his season in the process.

Kane had netted only one Premier League goal in 2015/16 before he faced Bournemouth on Sunday, and his goal glut has seen him overtaken England strike partner Wayne Rooney in the process.

Rooney’s England record has deflected from his poor start to the season, but the pressure is building on the Manchester United captain after his woeful display against Manchester City, in which he touched the ball only once in the penalty area.

Kane has now netted twice as many league goals as Rooney, and has also been creating more chances than the United man.

He has been recording a similar rate of his efforts on target as Rooney, and perhaps the 30-year-old’s fortune will turn, and all he needs is to face a dodgy defence like Bournemouth’s.

Yet Kane was in the right area at the right time to convert his chances at the weekend, while Rooney never really looked a threat against City, and needs to get into more dangerous areas in order to start affecting games.

Both players are being outclassed by England teammate Jamie Vardy, who has netted 10 goals in 10 games, and also has an assist to his name.

Vardy is full of confidence right now and with Kane netting a hat-trick he will hope to go on a similar scoring streak. Quite where Rooney’s inspiration will come from is anybody’s guess, and a real problem for Louis van Gaal to try and find an answer to.
