Tottenham Hotspur have limited Liverpool’s ticket allocation to just over 3,000 for Sunday’s match at Wembley.
Tottenham Hotspur appear to be going to great lengths to try to limit the amount of Liverpool fans at Wembley on Sunday.
Tottenham’s temporary home, where they are playing this season while construction takes place on their new stadium, holds nearly 90,000 people.
Premier League regulations state that visiting clubs must be offered a minimum of 3,000 away tickets, or 10% at grounds which hold less than 30,000.
According to The Liverpool Echo, the Reds were only offered an initial allocation of 3,116 tickets which quickly sold out.
And when Spurs opened up tickets for general sale, they were only available to supporters who were on the club’s database prior to September 2017, making it difficult for Liverpool fans to get access.
The Echo adds that Spurs have put those restrictions in place following discussions with the Metropolitan Police, but safety might not be their primary concern.
Spurs failed to win any of their last four games against Liverpool at White Hart Lane, losing 5-0 and 3-0 during that time, and seem to be taking steps to ensure they make home advantage count this weekend.
Last Saturday’s 1-0 victory over Bournemouth was their first Premier League win at Wembley.
