Tottenham should use Schalke’s interest in Kevin Wimmer to their advantage.

The Sun report Tottenham Hotspur remain keen on signing Schalke winger Max Meyer.
The 21-year-old has only one year remaining on his contract with the Bundesliga side and he is yet to commit to a new deal.
The situation has placed Schalke in a weak position over the winger, and Tottenham have an ace up their sleeve which can potentially knock Meyer’s price down even further.

German outlet T-Online reported earlier this year Schalke want to sign Tottenham’s Austrian international centre-back Kevin Wimmer.
Schalke chairman Clemens Tonnies confirmed ‘intensive talks’ over Wimmer, but Tottenham elected to keep the player put mid-season, which was wise considering Jan Vertonghen’s injury.
Now the situation has changed, with Tottenham seeking to cash in on the defender.

The Sun reported last week that Spurs want as much as £20 million for Wimmer, a high amount but one which Schalke could potentially negotiate down.
Spurs have already deal successfully with Schalke in the past year, selling Nabil Bentaleb to the Bundesliga side.
Wimmer impressed previously in Germany with Cologne and he might well be the key figure to help Tottenham bring Meyer into the club.
