Spurs star Dele Alli has explained how he wants to become England’s new entertainer in the number 10 role, as quoted by the Evening Standard.

The 20-year-old was instrumental for the Three Lions on Saturday, and scored in their 2-0 win over Malta at Wembley.

There has been much debate over which position Alli is most effective in, but he does seem to be far more productive when deployed in a more advanced role.

The Tottenham man discussed his performance, and shared how he wants to help provide England with an attacking threat in an entertaining manner, after being given the green light by new interim boss Gareth Southgate, as quoted by the Evening Standard:

“Can I be the entertainer? I hope so. I like to enjoy the game and to have fun and express myself as much as I can. That’s the kind of thing that Gareth was saying to us before the game. So it suited me well.”

The former MK Dons man has begun his Premier league campaign with Spurs in fine fashion, appearing in all seven of his side’s league games, and chipping in with two goals.

He is currently part of an extremely strong core of English players at White Hart Lane who could prove to be integral to the Three Lions over the next decade or so.

England face Slovenia tomorrow night in what could turn out to be a crucial fixture in the World Cup qualifying process, and Alli will be hoping to help his country achieve victory once again.
