Spurs star Victor Wanyama sat down for an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, and opened up on the conversation he shared with Mauricio Pochettino before moving to the club in the summer of 2016.

The Kenyan made the £11 million switch from Southampton in June, and has since established himself as one of the Argentine’s most important players, making 32 Premier League appearances for Tottenham this season.

The 25-year-old has formed a formidable partnership with Mousa Dembele at the base of Spurs’ midfield, and his combative style of play has given the Lilywhites an extra edge to their play in the middle of the park.

Wanyama sat down and spoke exclusively with Sky Sports about how excited he was when the prospect of a move to Tottenham came about, after Pochettino told him of the exciting plans he had for the club:

“I was quite happy to join him. He just told me, ‘You know how I work and I want you to come here and be part of it, to try and work hard to achieve some trophies’. I couldn’t resist and I jumped on the boat quickly.”

The north London outfit currently sit in second position in the Premier League table, four points adrift of league leaders Chelsea, but they can close the gap to just a single point with a victory over West Ham tonight at the London Stadium.

And if Wanyama keeps up his fine level of performances, Tottenham will have every chance of winning their first league title since 1961.
