Former Leeds United and England defender Danny Mills spoke on the Sky Football Show about a Tottenham star who has fallen out of favour under Jose Mourinho.

Spurs have been absolutely incredible at times this season. Harry Kane and Son Heung-min have made Tottenham one of the most feared sides in the Premier League, and Mourinho seems to have found his balance in attack.

Kane and Son are undisputed starters up front and it is only a matter of time before Gareth Bale joins them. Tanguy Ndombele is back on Mourinho’s good side, while summer signing Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has settled in nicely.

That, sadly, has cost Dele Alli his place in the squad. The Englishman has played just 198 minutes of football all season and has been left out of the squad on six occasions. The writing seems to be on the wall for the former MK Dons man, and Danny Mills feels he should consider his options in January.

He said: “Sometimes you need a fresh challenge and a fresh start. He’s been at Tottenham a long time and he’s been incredibly successful. But I think that if he doesn’t show what Mourinho wants to see between now and the end of January, he might need something different, a new challenge.”

“I’m sure there’ll be plenty of takers because undoubtedly he’s still got a lot of talent. But at the moment he can’t seem to find it.”

Alli is undoubtedly a fantastic talent. The Englishman has played over 200 games for Tottenham since his move back in 2015. He has scored 63 goals and has provided 55 assists in that period, and has made a fantastic name for himself in the English top-flight.

However, it now seems like he has no place at Tottenham any more. Alli has a little over two months to fight his way back into Mourinho’s plans. If he doesn’t, he will have to look elsewhere for regular game time to have any chance of making it into England’s Euros squad next summer.

The Telegraph claimed before transfer deadline day that French champions Paris Saint-Germain were keen to sign him. If Thomas Tuchel’s side show any interest in January, it should be a no-brainer for Alli to make the move, especially if Mourinho continues to keep him away from the squad.
