Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Oliver Skipp has hailed Ryan Mason for the changes he has already made since taking charge.

Mason has been thrust into the Tottenham dugout again, just as he was back in 2021.

The interim reign of Cristian Stellini was a complete disaster – something many predicted.

Going from Antonio Conte to his assistant just didn’t work and last week’s 6-1 hammering at Newcastle United proved to be the end.

That means Tottenham have turned to Mason, hoping their former midfielder can get them to the end of the season with no more disasters.

Mason may well view this situation as bigger than that though; he will want the job permanently.

Mason has been coaching at Tottenham for a while now, having had his playing career sadly cut short.

There may be bigger names in the mix but Mason has a foot in the door – and wants to take this chance to prove himself as a Premier League boss.

Oliver Skipp hails Ryan Mason

Mason certainly made a decent start, securing a 2-2 draw against Manchester United on Thursday night.

Spurs were 2-0 down and looking out of the game before Mason inspired his side to come back and claim a point.

The hope is that Tottenham can now kick on and end the season strongly, starting with today’s trip to Liverpool.

Mason has now received huge praise with Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp very impressed.

Skipp and Mason have some similarities as homegrown midfielders who have come up through the Tottenham ranks.

Skipp has now praised Mason, telling The Independent that he thinks the new interim boss has already made an impact at Spurs.

The Tottenham ace feels that Mason has been ‘brilliant’ with his changes, with some ‘small details’ really helping the Spurs squad.

“Ryan has been brilliant in just reinforcing and trying to get belief back into the players,” said Skipp. “He has been brilliant in terms of small details he has changed. Obviously he hasn’t had as long as he’d want (in training) but there are things that helped everyone.“

“At half-time everyone was aware of what we needed to do and also a few tactical things we changed, perhaps stopping their midfield getting easy possession because at times they had easy possession. A few tactical changes really helped us push up the pitch and stop worrying about what was behind us,” he added.
