Tottenham Hotspur’s Son Heung-min has become a hero in North London.
Tottenham Hotspur ace Son Heung-min has told The Mirror that he is far from finished at the club, three years since he wanted to leave.
Spurs are usually relying on Harry Kane for goals, but with the talismanic striker out for the rest of the season, it’s now left on Son to step up once again.
The South Korean, 26, has hit 18 goals and 10 assists this season, again producing stunning numbers having smashed 18 goals and 11 assists last term.
Son is one of the most popular Tottenham players, becoming a fan favourite thanks to his work rate, quality on the ball and his seemingly never-ending smile.
It all could have been so different though, as Son endured a tricky first season with Spurs, notching eight goals and five assists after a 2015 move from Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.
Son wanted to return to the German side in 2016, but stuck it out and turned his Spurs career around, now making himself almost indispensable to Mauricio Pochettino.
Son has now admitted that life with Spurs was tough three years ago, and admitted that he still has tough times, but praised those around him for helping him – and assured fans that he’s far from finished with Spurs, vowing to improve more and more.
“It was tough. It’s impossible to only have good times,” said Son. “Sometimes you have tough times to get better. Around me, the club, the coaching staff, the players, when I have a tough time they help me lots to be here right now. I’m really grateful for this situation and I’m not finished. I try to improve every day,” he added.
