Tottenham Hotspur’s fine season ultimately ended in disappointment.
Tottenham’s Dele Alli
Spurs star Dele Alli sat down for an exclusive interview with Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp, and explained how it is easy to forget how much progress his team have made, after their Premier League title hopes were ended with their disappointing defeat to West Ham 10 days ago, and Chelsea’s ensuing back-to-back-victories.
Tottenham have made huge strides since Mauricio Pochettino took over as manager in the summer of 2014, and in spite of their failure to win the Premier League title in the last two seasons, it has to be acknowledged that they are a club on the rise.
The Argentine has stamped his authority on the Lilywhites by making some incredibly astute signings, none more so than Alli, and by implementing his unmistakable intense pressing style of play.
The 21-year-old has enjoyed a wonderful campaign from an individual perspective, scoring 17 goals and chipping in with five assists in 35 Premier League outings.
He spoke to Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp about his side’s bitterly disappointing defeat to the Hammers which, at the time, all but ended their title hopes:
Tottenham’s Dele Alli celebrates
“We have definitely improved as a team and are progressing. We did really well to get it down, at one point I think Chelsea were 14 points away from us, and we took it down to four points. It was one of the worst atmospheres I’ve been in after the game [West Ham] in the changing room, everyone was so disappointed.”
The next challenge for Tottenham will be to win a major trophy, and if they manage to do that, Alli and his teammates will surely go down as one of the club’s greatest ever teams.
