Tottenham midfielder Heung-Min Son spoke after netting the winner against Crystal Palace.
Tottenham midfielder Heung-Min Son became the highest scoring South Korean in Premier League history at the weekend when he netted a winner over Crystal Palace.
Son’s second half goal was enough to earn a 1-0 win over a spirited Eagles side and help Spurs bounce back from their loss to Manchester United the previous week.
Son’s goal was his 20th in the Premier League helped him surpass the tally of 19 set by countryman Park Ji-Sung during his Manchester United spell.
Park retired in 2014 and was a real fan favourite at Old Trafford during his career there, having a knack of scoring important goals.
Son’s strike was a crucial one yesterday too, and he raved about his countryman after the game.
He told Tottenham’s official club website: “Park Ji-Sung had the record and he’s my idol. He’s a legend. He’s got everything. I’ve a lot to do to catch him.
“It’s a record which makes me happy. I can enjoy this day but I’m still hungry. I hope I can score many, many goals for Spurs.”
Son is still only 25 years old and is just into his third season at Tottenham.
At the rate he is going he will likely end up doubling Park Ji-Sung’s tally by time he is done at Spurs, and in the process he is becoming an idol himself for the many who look up to him.
