Tottenham Hotspur’s Eric Dier has labelled Christian Eriksen a ‘fantastic player’ in the Daily Star, following the playmaker’s departure from the North London club.
Eriksen left Tottenham in January, with Jose Mourinho sanctioning his departure.
To be fair to Mourinho he had little choice but to let go of Eriksen, as the Dane appeared to have no interest in extending his deal at Spurs once Inter Milan came knocking.
But Dier feels that Tottenham lost a player of real quality when he departed last season.
“Christian is a very good friend of mine and we speak often. We had a good relationship at Tottenham and he is a fantastic player with so much quality,” Dier said.
“You go through a transition when you go to a new team in a new country, it must have been a very difficult time for him. But he tells me he’s settled in well and is enjoying it.”

Eriksen actually came up against his former Spurs teammate last night, and he proved a difficult player to mark for Dier.
Eriksen memorably gave Dier the slip at one stage during the match with a clever turn, as Denmark and England played out a drab 0-0 draw.
Dier’s attention will now return to Tottenham matters, with Mourinho’s men facing Everton in their first game of the season on Sunday.
