Tottenham Hotspur have the best defensive record in the Premier League, with Hugo Lloris performing to his usual high standards.
Spurs number one goalkeeper Hugo Lloris sat down for an interview with French publication Le Parisien while away on international duty, and described how important he considers his first meeting with Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino to have been for his career.
Lloris’ future at White Hart Lane has been the subject of intense speculation over this past week, when reports emerged that he would not be offered more than £100,000 per week to stay at Spurs (the Sun).

With the inflated state that the transfer market is currently in, that amount of money will surely not be enough to keep the Frenchman at the club, although Spurs fans will be happy with his words during an interview with Le Parisien, where he declared his happiness at Spurs, whilst highlighting the importance of his first meeting with Pochettino:
“There are two important moments in my career. The first was when I signed at Lyon in 2008, where I spent four years with Joël Bats. He’s the one who taught me about the biggest expectations, reach the French team and stay there. Then came the meeting with Mauricio Pochettino and Tony Jimenez, the goalkeeping coach. They’re the ones who helped me develop the skills of the modern goalkeeper and become more complete. I can’t hide it. I’m happy at the moment.”

The 29-year-old stopper moved to Tottenham from Lyon in the summer of 2012, for the bargain price of £8 million. and has gone on to make 181 appearances for the Lilywhites.
Lloris is currently away on international duty with France for their upcoming internationals, where he will be looking to add to his already impressive collection of 84 caps for his country.
