The Tottenham Hotspur ace believes he will get even better this season.
Spurs star Mousa Dembele sat down for an exclusive interview with popular football website Football.London, and discussed the frustrations he endured with persistent injury problems last season, but insisted he is now in better shape than ever.
The recently turned 30-year-old Belgium international has proven himself to be one of Tottenham’s most valuable players, since he joined the Lilywhites from Fulham way back in 2012.
He has become so important to Mauricio Pochettino’s setup that many Spurs fans are concerned that there seems to be no replacement for him currently at the club, and with Dembele on the wrong side of 30, it could be argued that his powers are on the wane.

The Belgian star insisted that is very much to the contrary, however, when speaking to Football.London, and shared his belief that he will get even better over the coming seasons, due to the fact that he is now injury free, following an operation on his troublesome ankle:
“It’s OK. In the beginning [after the operations] it was a bit difficult but I’ve a lot of sessions behind me now and it gets better and better to be honest. All through last season I had a bit of pain. But it was always bearable until the end when it was less so, so I wanted to have an operation. Now it’s better. When you have pain, you have pain. It’s always like 30 per cent still there. Now with the operation, it’s much better.”
Dembele has made 197 appearances for Tottenham in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing 11 assists in the process, and if there is one part of his game that he could improve upon, it is surely his rather underwhelming attacking output.
And if the Belgian can add that string to his bow, he would surely then be considered as truly world class.
