Chelsea will play host to Tottenham Hotspur to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.
Tottenham ace Lucas Moura spoke to reporters ahead of his side’s huge clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, and shared how excited his is at the prospect of being involved in a London Derby, as quoted by the club’s official website.
The Brazilian joined Spurs from Paris Saint-Germain on transfer deadline day in January, but he has found first-team opportunities hard to come by so far, with Mauricio Pochettino taking a cautious approach to integrating him into life in England.
The Lilywhites currently sit in fourth position in the Premier League table, five points clear of fifth placed Chelsea, and as long as they avoid defeat against Antonio Conte’s side, they will be all but assured of a top four finish.
Lucas, 25, sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and shared how he is itching to play a part for his new club against the Blues on Sunday:
“It’s true, it’s a big game and I can’t wait for it. I’m excited to be around, to hopefully be involved and I believe firmly that we can win. I’ve been waiting for this kind of match. The Premier League is the best league in the world and I’m happy to be here and to hopefully be involved in a London derby like this. It’s a big, big match, I’m excited for it and this week we will all prepare very well for it. We will prepare for this game in the best way possible but I believe we can win there and that’s the most important thing – the three points that we need.”
History certainly is not on Spurs’ side, however.
Tottenham have not won at Stamford Bridge since 1990, and Pochettino’s men will be desperate to put an end to that unwanted record at the weekend.
