Foyth has been linked with a move from Tottenham to Leeds since Marcelo Bielsa was appointed.
Juan Foyth has claimed in an interview with Football London that he was not told anything about Leeds United’s reported interest in signing the Argentine central defender from Tottenham Hotspur last month.
Argentine outlet AS claimed the 21-year-old centre-back was a target for Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds in the January transfer window, with the Championship promotion contenders lacking in depth at the heart of their defence.
Foyth broke into the Tottenham side during November and December, clocking up six Premier League appearances and even scoring his first goal for the north Londoners. However, he has failed to make a league appearance since December.
Asked about Leeds’ reported interest in his services, Foyth replied by stating that he was not told about anything and that he leaves his agent to deal with things like that.
“I was never told anything about that so I don’t know whether it was actually true or not,” Foyth said.
“I have to guide myself on what my agent says. Despite everything I started the season really wanting and looking forward to being here, despite not having a position [in the Champions League squad] and I just wanted to learn day by day.”
Leeds have been left with just Liam Cooper and Pontus Jansson at centre-back, while right-backs Luke Ayling and Gaetano Berardi, midfielder Kalvin Phillips and youngster Aapo Halme have filled in when one of the two senior stars are unavailable.
Foyth, meanwhile, has managed just nine appearances in all competitions for Tottenham and with Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen and Davinson Sanchez all above him in the pecking order, he is likely to remain on the sidelines.
The one-time Argentina international has managed just 17 Spurs appearances since joining the club for a fee of £8million (BBC Sport).
