Tottenham’s Jan Vertonghen has been included in the PFA Players’ Team of the Year.

The season is coming to its end, and that means that the PFA Players’ Team of the Year has been announced to recognise the season’s top performers.
Manchester City have run out as comfortable Premier League title winners, so it’s no great surprise that Pep Guardiola’s men dominate the Team of the Year.
Kyle Walker and Nicolas Otamendi feature in defence, whilst Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva are in midfield, with Sergio Aguero in the attack.

David De Gea, Marcos Alonso and Mohamed Salah are all in the side, whilst Christian Eriksen and Harry Kane represent Tottenham Hotspur alongside Jan Vertonghen.
Vertonghen has enjoyed an outstanding season in the Spurs defence, excelling whether as part of a back three, or featuring alongside young Colombian centre back Davinson Sanchez.
The future of his Belgian international teammate Toby Alderweireld may be up in the air, but Vertonghen has excelled – and he has taken to Twitter to react to his inclusion in the side.
Vertonghen admitted he was proud to be included in the side, and immediately looked ahead to this weekend’s FA Cup semi-final against Manchester United.
Fans responded by suggesting that Vertonghen’s inclusion is thoroughly deserved as he has been Tottenham’s best player this season, noting that he has been ‘imperious’ in the heart of the Spurs defence.
