Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli is already considered to be one of the best players in the league at just 20 years of age.
When speaking during an exclusive interview with French media publication L’Equipe, Spurs goalkeeper Hugo Lloris raved about the ‘special’ ability of teammate Dele Alli, and explained how he feels it is his responsibility to help the England international reach the highest levels in the game.
The 20-year-old has been in sensational form for Tottenham this season, scoring 10 goals in 20 Premier League appearances for his club, and has helped them firmly establish themselves in the title race.
And Lloris spoke highly of the former MK Dons youngster, during an exclusive interview with L’Equipe, highlighting the special relationship shared by the pair:
Tottenham’s Hugo Lloris
“He is a young player. But I have been in professional football for 12 years and one can say that he has something special, this boy. I love him, I like his personality, completely different to me, his carefree attitude. As soon as questions are asked of him, when he is in a difficult period, he reacts, he scores. I know what is ahead of him, praise, criticism, and as I have a very, very good relationship with him, I think that is is my role as captain to watch over that, to be there when things are not going so well.”
Tottenham’s Dele Alli
In order for Mauricio Pochettino’s men to mount a sustained challenge for the league title, and go further than they did last season, they will most certainly need to keep Alli fit and at the top of his game, if they are to have any chance of glory.
It has to be noted how remarkable the 20-year-old’s rise in the game has been, however, and to put so much pressure on someone so young could have an adverse effect on his development.
Spurs fans will be hoping that he thrives off of the high expectations though, and leads them to their first league title in 56 years.
