Spurs captain Lloris has teamed up with Pogba for France at this summer’s World Cup.
Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has been quoted by the Daily Mail as saying that Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba is a “true leader” and believes he is maturing into a captain.
Lloris and Pogba are set to team up once again in Russia on Friday afternoon as France take on Uruguay for a place in the quarter finals of the World Cup.

The duo have so far combined at the World Cup to finish at the top of Group C, beating Peru and Australia as well as drawing with Denmark. The French then produced their performance of the tournament to knock Argentina out of the last 16, winning 4-2 thanks to a Kylian Mbappe-inspired performance.
Speaking ahead of Friday’s clash against Uruguay, Tottenham stopper Lloris, 31, was effusive in his praise for Pogba as the 25-year-old as he continues to impress on the national stage after a decent 2017-18 campaign.
“I think he’s maturing, he’s growing,” Lloris said. “He’s accumulating experience, be it with Man United, Juventus – now he’s lining up more seasons, more caps. He’s starting to grow in the locker room and that’s good because he’s a true leader.
“He’s a very ambitious player. We all know he’s extremely talented and he has a lot to offer the team and his team-mates. I think that these big competitions are also good to reveal the talent of players and I’m sure it’s the case for Paul.”
The duo will be desperate to beat Uruguay at the Nizhy Novgorod Stadium, with the winners of the tie set to face the victors from Friday evening’s clash between Brazil and Belgium.
Lloris and Pogba could indeed meet their England teammates, but only in the final of the competition with England set to face Sweden on Saturday – and will play against either Russia or Croatia in the semi-final if they win.
