Tottenham Hotspur’s new hero Heung-min Son has told The AFC Hub that he is ‘very comfortable’ staying in London, but finds the food difficult.

Winger Son, 24, joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2015, and endured an up-and-down first season at White Hart Lane, as he scored eight goals in 42 games but struggled to nail down a spot in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting line-up.

Over the summer, Son was strongly linked with a move away from Tottenham; German newspaper Bild reported that Everton, Leicester City and Wolfsburg were all keen to sign Son before August’s transfer deadline, but he remained at White Hart Lane.

With competition from the likes of Christian Eriksen and Erik Lamela, as well as recent signings Moussa Sissoko and Georges-Kevin Nkoudou, many wondered just what kind of role Son would play – but he’s proven his worth this season.

With five goals and two assists in six games in all competitions this season, Son has been one of Tottenham’s key players, and he has offered Pochettino a versatile attacking option given that he has played out wide or up front.

Son now appears settled at White Hart Lane, and he has told The AFC Hub that he thinks London is the best city in the world – and despite the speculation over his future, he is ‘very comfortable’ staying in London, though he finds food ‘difficult’ in England.

Son added that he has a number of best friends at Tottenham, naming Kevin Wimmer, Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama as players who have been good friends with him so far.

“I think London is the best city in the world,” said Son. “Leverkusen is a small city, and they have Bayer, one big factory. I think for my family, and for my life, it’s better, London. And, also [for] football, I am very comfortable to stay there, in London. Just the food is a bit difficult.”

“Who’s my best friend? Many players are my best friend. There’s an Austrian guy, [centre-back] Kevin Wimmer, Dele Alli, Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama, There’s so many good players, and good friends to me,” he added.
