The Tottenham Hotspur midfielder hasn’t played since April.
Spurs youngster Harry Winks spoke to the club’s official website following his side’s superb 4-2 friendly win over PSG yesterday, and admitted his sheer relief after returning to action unscathed flowing a lengthy lay-off with an ankle injury.
The 21-year-old was introduced to the game by Mauricio Pochettino against the French giants after 60 minutes, and he performed admirably, but more importantly, suffered no further setbacks upon his return from injury.
And Winks spoke to TottenhamHotspur.com about his delight at being back and involved with the first-team, despite admitting to feeling nervous ahead of taking to the field of play:

“I can’t put it into words. It’s been a long time coming and it’s been amazing to return, it really has. It was exciting to get back out there against good opposition. I was a little nervous about how my ankle would hold up. That’s always in the back of your mind when you come back from injury but I’ve worked hard with the help of the medical team and when you go out there, the focus is on winning the match and that’s all I was thinking about.”
This upcoming Premier League season will be a huge one for Winks, and it is not an exaggeration to suggest that it could be a make or break campaign for the young Englishman.
He will have to undoubtedly raise his game to even higher levels, with the likes of Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele currently ahead of him in the midfield pecking order at Spurs.
With such a long and physically punishing campaign ahead for Tottenham though, he will surely at least be given a chance to shine.
