The Tottenham Hotspur star changed his squad number this season.

Tottenham youngster Harry Winks sat down for an exclusive interview with the club’s official website, and shared his immense pride at being given the number eight shirt, refusing to shy away from the responsibility that he now has on his shoulders.
The 22-year-old returned to action as an 89th minute substitute against Fulham last weekend, having not played a game prior to that since February, and he will be desperate to force his way back into Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.
The Argentine failed to strengthen his squad during the summer transfer window, so Winks will surely be called upon regularly this term, considering the fact that Poch doesn’t really possesses another player like the young Englishman in his squad.
Winks spoke exclusively to the club’s official website about the pride he feels at being named as Tottenham’s new number eight, whilst admitting that he personally requested the change:

“It’s something I’ve always dreamed of since I was a little boy, to have the number eight at Tottenham. It really is special. There have been so many great names and great players who have played in that shirt over the years and when you’re a young fan and aspiring Tottenham player, number eight, as a midfielder, is just the pinnacle so to get the number is an honour and I’ve got to work hard to do it justice. I asked the club if I could have it. I don’t really know how it all happened if I’m being honest – the club just sorted it for me and I was just told one day that I was going to have it, so it was all a bit of a whirlwind when I found out. I’m very grateful and I’m looking forward to knuckling down and working hard now.”
Next up for Spurs is an away trip to Manchester United on Monday night, and Winks will be hoping for another opportunity to prove that he is 100 per cent back to his best, both physically and mentally.
