Tottenham star Harry Kane admits lower leagues beckon if he doesn’t work hard

Tottenham star Harry Kane is not taking meteoric rise for granted.

Tottenham Hotspur superstar Harry Kane is living the dream.

Last year he scored more goals than any professional footballer in world football, and would command a staggering record breaking fee if he decided he wanted to quit his boyhood club.

But the young striker is not taking anything for granted.

He added to his 2018 tally at the weekend by rescuing Spurs from FA Cup embarrassment against lower league Newport County.

Speaking after the game he told The Telegraph he had received somewhat of a reality check, a reminder of his early career years on loan in the Football League.

Kane said that he feels if he doesn’t continue to work hard, he will be back at that level.

He said: “When I was in League One with Leyton Orient, it was tough,”

“It is a reminder of how far I have come. Sometimes it is good to come here and remind yourself that this isn’t so far away if you don’t carry on working hard.

“I was playing here five or six years ago. I got the opportunity thankfully and managed to take it. If I didn’t then who knows where I would be now.”

Fortunately for Kane, Spurs and England, the striker’s work ethic has never been in doubt.

He still has so much more to accomplish in his career, and the chances of him getting complacent are nil, especially if he already recognises the danger.
