Liverpool totally outclassed Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley yesterday.
Tottenham ace Erik Lamela spoke exclusively to the club’s official website in the aftermath of his side’s disappointing defeat to Liverpool yesterday, and admitted that it was a bonus for him to score a late consolation goal.
The Reds were too good for Spurs at Wembley Stadium yesterday, and the eventual scoreline of 2-1 actually ended up flattering Mauricio Pochettino’s men.
Lamela, 26, came on as a 60th minute substitute against Liverpool, and undoubtedly provided his side with more impetus in the final third, but it was all to no avail.
The Argentine spoke to reporters after the game, and shared how it felt like a bonus to score late on against Liverpool, despite the fact that his side lost the game, as quoted by the club’s official website:
“The goal was like a bonus for me but next time I hope that it helps the team to win. I am sad for the defeat but I believe that we can win against Inter. We need to play well but, like I said, I believe in this team.”
Next up for Tottenham is their Champions League opener away at Inter Milan on Tuesday night, and they will have to be a lot better than they were against Liverpool, if they are to leave the San Siro with a positive result.
