Tottenham Hotspur star Eric Dier would stand to benefit from Victor Wanyama leaving.

Tottenham Hotspur star Eric Dier could be forgiven for cracking a smile if teammate Victor Wanyama lands an exit from the club this summer.
Wanyama has been an asset for Tottenham since signing from Southampton but it has been to the detriment of Dier’s career.
Dier had a terrific 2015/16 season in a defensive midfield role, earning a regular spot in the England side.

Since Wanyama’s arrival, Dier was shunted to the bench or to be used as a centre-back.
Mauricio Pochettino wrote in his book how Dier felt he had been snubbed by the club signing Wanyama and there had been a disagreement.
Via The Mail, Pochettino said that Dier, ‘felt that we had treated him badly because Wanyama’s arrival would halt his development.’

The manager added that Dier is convinced his best position is in midfield and not in defence, which Pochettino disagrees with.
Despite speculation linking Dier away from the club last summer, the England ace is staying put, and it appears he will outlast Wanyama.
If Wanyama is sold this summer then it will open the door for Dier to play a more prominent role in midfield and potentially get back to his very best.
