The Tottenham Hotspur ace played with the Wolverhampton Wanderers striker during their time together at MK Dons.
Tottenham star Dele Alli sat down for an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, and shared how surreal his rise to prominence in such a short space of time has been.
The 21-year-old joined Spurs from MK Dons in February 2015, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of just £5 million, before being immediately loaned back to the League One side.
He has gone on to be nothing short of a revelation for the Lilywhites since then, chalking up an impressive 42 goals and 40 assists in 138 appearances in all competitions.
Expectations of the England international are so high that he has been heavily criticised this season, despite racking up 10 goals and 16 assists.
Dele sat down for an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, and opened up on his rapid rise to fame, sharing what he told Benik Afobe four years ago about potentially playing in the Premier League:
“There are times when you step back and think about what you’ve done, how different your life was three or four years ago. I remember when I was playing at MK, me and Benik Afobe would always say: ‘Imagine playing in the Premier League! But at the same time you think this is what you’ve been working for all the time. Every step I was making at MK, everything was to get to this moment, so I’m not surprised, in a sense, that it happened.”
Tottenham head to west London to take on Chelsea in the Premier League tomorrow, looking for their first win at Stamford Bridge since 1990.
If they are to have any chance of doing just that, Dele will have to be at his very best, especially in the absence of Harry Kane, and the youngster will be looking to silence his critics once again, with a match-winning display.
