The Tottenham Hotspur man has blossomed into one of Europe’s finest left-backs.
Tottenham’s Danny Rose in action
When speaking to Sky Sports’ show Soccer AM for an exclusive interview, Spurs star Danny Rose shared a funny story about his manager Mauricio Pochettino and explained how the Argentine once played a prank on him, telling him that the club were considering selling him.
The 26-year-old left-back has fully established himself as one of the league’s best defenders, and has become so important to the manner in which Tottenham play.
He has performed to such high levels on a consistent basis that rumours began to circulate last month regarding interest from both Manchester City and Manchester United (the Sun).
And Rose spoke to Soccer AM about his close relationship with his manager, citing an incident where he called him into his office and told him that Spurs were looking to sell him:
“He called me in his office and he sat me down and said ‘We’ve just received a bid from somebody and we are looking to sell you. I was a bit gutted to be fair! And then after a while he told me he was joking. I tried to get my own back on him. He’d seen the news about China and that a club were interested in me. I told him it was true and he just said ‘Yeah, OK then!’.”

The Lilywhites currently sit in second position in the Premier League table, and their impressive showings this term have been underlined by Rose’s dynamic performances up and down the left flank.
The worry for Tottenham, however, is that if he continues to perform to the levels in which he has been over the past 18 months, they will have a serious fight on their hands to keep hold of him.
