The Tottenham Hotspur man insisted that he is happy in north London.
Tottenham star Christian Eriksen sat down for an exclusive interview with Danish media outlet BT, and insisted that he is happy and focused on playing for Spurs, joking that he doesn’t feel as though they want to get rid of him just yet.
The 26-year-old joined Tottenham from Ajax in the summer of 2013, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £12.5 million, and he has gone on to be a huge hit in north London, chalking up 57 goals and 73 assists in 239 appearances in the process.
Eriksen’s contract with Spurs is due to expire in the summer of 2020, however, so the club might just be getting twitchy, with just over 18 months remaining on his current deal.
The Dane spoke exclusively to Danish media outlet BT, and insisted that he lets his agent deal with all contract negotiations, leaving him to concentrate fully on playing football:
“I have my agent to take care of it so I can focus on playing soccer. Then we see in the end where it ends. There have been talks with Tottenham many times. I can’t say if it’s over. You must ask them. I have not felt that they will throw me out yet!”
Tottenham currently sit in fourth spot in the Premier League table, five points adrift of league leaders Manchester City, and if they are to have any chance whatsoever of winning the league, Eriksen will have to be at his very best between now and the end of the season.
